Our Story

Parker County Committee on Aging (PCCOA) was founded on a simple but powerful vision—to serve and support the seniors of Parker County. That vision began on June 27, 1975, when a group of dedicated community members came together to bring it to life. With early support from the City of Weatherford, plans were set in motion to establish what would become the Meals on Wheels program for Parker County.

In May 1977, the first senior center opened its doors inside the old college library, creating a place for connection, nourishment, and community. As the need continued to grow, a larger facility was established in January 1988, complete with a dedicated Meals on Wheels kitchen—still serving as the home of the Parker County Senior Center today.

Today, PCCOA provides a welcoming space for individuals ages 60 and over to gather, build friendships, and stay active. From nutritious meals to engaging activities like bingo, line dancing, art, walking clubs, quilting, and more, the center offers opportunities for connection and enrichment every day. Additional services, including access to an on-site food pantry, ensure seniors receive the support they need—especially during times of hardship.

Through strong partnerships with families, local businesses, and healthcare organizations, PCCOA continues to serve as a vital resource for seniors across Parker County. All services are provided at no cost to those 60 and older, made possible by the generosity of our community.

As a nonprofit organization, PCCOA operates independently and relies primarily on the support of local residents, businesses, and foundations. With a dedicated team and the support of generous volunteers, PCCOA remains committed to enhancing the lives of seniors and strengthening the community it proudly serves.
