The following is information on both the physical health activities and the recreational activities that take place at the Senior Center.  Please note registration with the Center is required to participate in activities.  If you are not already registered, please ask for Michelle Hernandez in the front office.

Physical Health Activities

Exercise

Exercise sessions are 30 minutes long and include things like stretching exercises, arm exercises, and leg exercises.  There are a few different exercise videos that offer a variety of workouts.  Exercise sessions usually take place at 10:00 am, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Please see the calendar for specific dates and times.

Health Screening

Blood pressure checks and blood sugar checks are provided a couple of times each month.  Please see the calendar for specific dates and times.

Lunch at the Senior Center

Lunch is served at the Senior Center, five days a week in a congregate setting.  These meals meet 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance requirements for senior adults.  Please see the menu page for specific times and menu items for the day.

Yoga

Yoga classes take place at 10:00 am on Monday and Friday.  This program is extremely popular!


Recreational Activities

Billiards/Pool

Pick-up games of pool are likely to happen most any time.  We've got all the equipment need.

Bingo

Free Bingo is held Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30 pm.  Donation for prizes always welcome.

Bridge (Card Games)

The bridge games are not formally scheduled, though they usually take place in the afternoon, after lunch and are open to anyone interested.

Craft Lessons

A scheduled craft lesson takes place once a month.

Defensive Driving Courses

Two to three times a year an individual with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) does a defensive training program at the Senior Center. The class covers driving safety topics and is open to both seniors and their families.

  • This is NOT the program to take to remove a recent ticket from your record.
  • This IS a program that seniors can take that may qualify for a discount on their auto insurance. Check with your car insurance company to see if it qualifies.

Domino Games

A few groups play in the mornings, though most domino games pick up after lunch. These are not formally scheduled.

Haircuts by Pam

Once a month, hairstylist Pam Gomez of Hello Darlin' in Weatherford donates her time and provides free haircuts at the Senior Center.   Please see the calendar for specific date and time.

Entertainment

dancing

Bands and a variety of other entertainers are scheduled 2 to 3 times a week.  Please see the calendar.

Line Dancing

All are welcome to join in on the line dancing fun.   Line dancing takes place Thursday mornings at 9:00 am.  Please always check the calendar.

Special Events

thanksgiving dinner 2015

Throughout the year the Senior Center will host several special events - usually centered around food.  Types of events include cookouts in the summer, spaghetti dinners, Thanksgiving dinner, and the like.

Wood Carving - Woodchippers

Once a week the "Woodchippers" get together to whittle and carve.  Bring your carving knife and wood to carve.  The Woodchippers get together every Wednesday mornings at 8:00 am.
