Meet Our Driver, Evan Gatewood
Evan Gatewood has been the driver for PCCOA's Senior Transit for the past four years and has enjoyed every minute of it.
"It's always fun," he says. "I have quite a few who say I am their adopted son."
Since 2014, Gatewood has driven thousands of miles and seen almost every inch of Parker County. In a unique partnership with Public Transit Services, Senior Transit offers free rides to seniors for trips to the doctors, visits with friends, and Walmart for grocery shopping, among other destinations. As a rural county with no official bus routes, Senior Transit is a lifeline for those who depend on the service. "With us being able to help seniors to their doors and give them the individual attention – it allows us to provide services for the seniors who sometimes need a little bit of extra help," Gatewood said.
Gatewood comes from a long line of law enforcement at the Fort Worth Police Department and is currently taking courses needed to apply to the Academy. Until then, he says, "I look forward to expanding the transit services we provide to our seniors."
